At the source of a small river water came out of a mountain where it formed small pools. Huge trees covered the pools. Above the pools flew several Philipomyia horseflies, which sometimes just dropped down into the water to drink. However, apparently they couldn't fly away.

Pinara, SW Turkey, alt 400 m.
