Hello to all,
is this a Brachyopa? And can it be exactly IDed.
Length about 12mm
1 July 2009, Germany, Upper Bavaria, Swamp called Pechschnait near Traunstein, ~680m asl

Hey Rupert,
Nice pictures!! No, it's not Brachyopa, but a genus that looks a lot like them.
This is the male of Hammerschmidtia ferruginea!

So my doubts about Brachyopa were justified (seems too slim, and perhaps too long as well).
Doesn't seem to be among the most frequent hoverflies, so I'm really glad now yet to have left the house yesterday evening.:D
