Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Syrphidae, Sphecomyia vespiformis?

I think that this 16-18 long fly is a Sphecomyia vespiformis but I can not find any pictures on internet that confirms my suggestion.

Indeed,
Sphecomyia vespiforme it is! So, now we have this species for the Syrphidae gallery! :D
Great species, isn't it..
You will find good pics of this species in the Finnish hoverflies book!

what a beauty!! I never seen this one in Portugal. Maybe this is a Northern species :P

Yes, it was a beauty but only basking in the shadows.
I think it could be between 5-10 observations in Sweden of this more easterly species.
