Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Bombyliidae: Usiinae: Usia pubera (syn=U. atrata), ID by D. Gibbs

Location: Valdelinares, Teruel, NE Spain. 1900 meters above sea.
Habitat: Always in flowers of Linum narborense. I never saw it in another flowers.
Date: Yesterday.
Size: Much bigger than the first Usia that I put here (Usia sp. aff. pusilla). These ones sizes about 5-6 mm.

Excellent stuff these are Usia pubera Strobl (= atrata of old literature), They seem to be very important for Linum.

to clarify, atrata is NOT a synonym of pubera in the taxonomic sense but a misidentification by Becker followed by subsequent authors. the true atrata is a North African species.
