Is not H. morio, but I don't know if can be maura, velutina or another spp. It's bigger than the "normal" hemipenthes that I usually see: size as an Anthrax anthrax.
Yesterday. Juslibol, Zaragoza, Spain. Dry gypsiferous steppes.
Thanks,
Isidro

I see no reason why this would not be H. velutina.
I believe that size is not very important with Bombyliid flies. I think the size depends on the availibility of food. Conspecific individuals may therefore show a huge variation in size.

Thanks Gabor, I let it as H. velutina. I asked because I don't know the features that distinguish the four Hemipenthes species recorded from my region. I call the black-bodied H. morio and the white-striped H. velutina but are also H. maura and other that I don't remember the name.
