Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tipulidae family

This photo was taken on 25th June 2006 in Montesinho - Portugal. (extreme Nordeast of Portugal) with nikon coolpix 3100.

This tipulidae fly mimics a wasp.

Fauna Europaea http://www.faunaeur.org/species_list.php Lists five species two with subspecies other than the also present nominate for Portugal. I think we may be sure there are more.

An interesting QUESTION: Which is the specie of WASP very similar to this tipulidae? Any advances and some photos would be great! Thank you!

This Nephrotoma is not so common here... I never seen here in Center of Portugal, just in Nordeast yesterday... but not sure if it is really common or uncommon (in Portugal)...
