Struggled with this for a while. Photo taken a few weeks ago. I think Dasyphora sp. but welcome corrections.

Devon, England. Mixed woodland/grass.

Thanks

Tim

Eudasyphora

Many thanks, Nikita. I am not up to date with modern taxonomy (I'm getting this from Colyer & Hammond). I believe there are 2 species of Eudasyphora in the UK: Eudasyphora (Dasyphora) cyanella and E. (Pyrellia) cyanicolor; according to C&H they can be separated as follows: cyanella - eyes and vein 1 hairy, cyanicolor - eyes and vein 1 bare. While I certainly can't see any detail of vein 1, I think I can detect evidence of hairs on the eye - I've enlarged part of the image (attached). Of course this may just be wishful thinking, but at least next time I'll make sure I get a better/closer shot of the head.

Again, grateful for your time and patience.

Tim
