Hello!

Is this 8-9 mm Cheilosia C. albitarsis? From a meadow at forest, northwest Germany.

looks a strong possibility, but could just as easily be C ranunculi.

Thanks, Nigel! You are confusing me, when writing C. ranunculi B). Reminded me of the Criorhina ranunculi I saw on the same day in the forest, but could unfortunately not photograph...

No, ranunculi is recently split off albitarsis. As far as we know now, ranunculi flies later in the year, around our country... and it's more rare. So, you can write it down as albitarsis.
