Hello,
could it be possible to confirm (or not) that we are facing :
Urophora quadrifasciata
(male) ?
This picture was taken the 9-June-2006 in France close to Rennes. The flie is on an Oxeye Daisy flower.
Thanks in advance.
Didier.

Very unusual for this species to sit on a daisy, but you're quite right it's
U. quadrifasciata
, a male. Hosts are several
Centaurea
species.

Thank's John
,
Centaurea
flowers were also opened out close to the daisy ones.
