Hi, I found this larva - maybe coleoptera? - in decaying wood, forest, N-E Hungary, middle of October, approx. 7 mm long. Any ideas?

I've never seen anything like this, but it has a jizz of Homoptera about it.

OK, - I've been puzzling over this for some time - I wish you'd posted the ventral view sooner! I'd agree it looks more like Coleoptera, so change the title of the post to "Beetle larva" - it may attract someone who recognises it. The best I can suggest is something like Derodontidae. (see
http://www.invasi...cobius.cfm ) but the size worries me a bit, or a young Lycidae larva.

Thank You very much Tony, I'd have posted the other photo but sometimes the forum just not allows me to post a second photo for a while in Other insect forum, saying No new threads allowed at present.
About size: it may have been a bit smaller, I can't really recall, but no less than 5 mm, I could spot it walking by a tree trunk. Curious about what it is :)
Best Regards,
Walter
