The Pollenia i saw have often golden and somtimes grey hairs.
I wonder if this has any diagnostic meaning.
(I'll add a few examples)

It is all Pollenia. As you know, there are several species. However, hairs turn less golden with aging, so be careful !

I've been looking at
Pollenia a bit recently, and I can tell you that your males are not
rudis, as yours have contiguous fronto-orbital plates.
Rudis males have the orbital plates clearly divided by the frontal vitta, unlike most (but not all) male
Pollenia.
