Hello,

This thread (http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=16949) reminded me of a fly I saw in June in a forest near Heerlen.
I was staggered about the lenght of the ovipositor which even could make some Tephritids jealous.
The palps seem to be smaller as the ones in Lonchaea palposa.

You'll need Iain to comment for a better informed opinion, but from my limited experience this could be something like Lonchaea tarsata as it has it has the basitarsal segments orange-yellow coloured. Nice photo. Please add to the gallery if Iain can provide a likely ID.

Hi Ben

this is not L. fugax which has all the tarsomeres pale, it could be L.tarsata but as I cannot make out the colour of the squammal fringe i cannot be sure ...... Iain
