Hello!
Please don't tell me this is good ole'
Phaonia tuguriorum again... ;) When I found it at our house today (northwest Germany), I thought it was something completely different (rather big, around 10 mm, spotted, some
Helina species?). But when looking at the photos...

Juergen, I don't want to lie to you, and sorry, but it is
Phaonia tuguriorum to me. A very similar fly,
Phaonia scutellata has closer eyes (no narrow frontal vitta between fronto-orbital plates) and entirely black antennae.

Thanks a lot! There will come a time, when
P. tuguriorum will be the by far most numerous of only a few
Phaonia species here... ;) (I often find it in late autumn or even winter). In the moment there are still so many flies around here, I have hundreds of photos from the last weeks lying on my HD. Many of them still unidentified or to be confirmed. So be warned... B)
