Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Is it Sericomyia chrysotoxoides???

Hello I photographied this Syrphid last June, 14th at East Angus, Quebec (near Vermont).

I think it is in both case a female Sericomyia chrysotoxoides...

Am I right? Any idea othewise???

I'm not familiar with New World syrphids, but it's certainly Sericomyia species - looks very similar to the European S silentis, which does not have such emphatic golden hairs.

Thank you Nigel for your help concerning that Hover Fly.

Finally I received a confirmation: it is effectively Sericomyia chrysotoxoides.
