Moin moin from germany,
I found this fly in May about 80 km west from Potsdam (D-14793 Struvenberg) on an appletree. How rare are these about 10 mm long flies in europe and ofcourse in Eastgermany (Brandenburg)? Date: 26.05.2008.
Greetings

Lars,
I think you should refrase the question:
How rare is it in Germany.
Probably between just rare and extremely rare.
In the Netherlands, only very few recods, of which 1 recent.

Don't know about Germany, sorry, but 2008 was probably a great year for the species, at least in Belgium : three of us (on the Photentomo discussion list) made separate observations within two weeks of each others this year...

Hi Lars
Try and contact Dr. Matthias Jentzsch ( m_jentzsch AT yahoo DOT de ) who collected a great deal of faunistic data on Stratiomyidea in eastern Germany.
