Dear members,
Does anyone know these two flies? They seem to be different (one has red eyes and the other black) Or is one of the insects not a fly?
Are they mating? or is the other fly a parasite and...
It is a strange picture that I wanted to share.

Hi Shar,
Despite your disbelieve, it is one species:
Dilophus febrilis in Bibionidae.
So they are, indeed, mating
In Bibionidae the sexual dimorphism is quite large, as you did observe.
Extremely common species
females easily IDed by the dark wings

Thank you again. Ofcourse you are right, excuse my ingnorance.
The world of insects and so flies is new to me. And for some reason I seem to run in to different insects and animals that have eggs or larfs on their body from a parasite insect. I thought this might be the case again, you never know. I once saw a bufo bufo (gewone pad) that was coverd in eggs or larfs.
