Any guesses what is on the rear end of what I assume is a female Bombylius major ?- pollen anthers?

I think it is dried mud. I have seen this species 'mud puddling' in the past and have assumed they perhaps attach their eggs to the mud to act as additional weight for when they 'throw' the eggs into the solitary bee holes. Just my own theory though.
