Hello,

I found this fly in a forest near Cologne in June. In the gallery I found several species with such dark red abdomen, which I am not able to distinguish. What is it?

Thanks,
Michael

P.S. Lenght: perhaps a bit more than 1cm.

Not Xylota, it's a male of Chalcosyrphus piger!
Nice find.
