Hello!

Quite robust and big sized species from my garden, Hungary. I had observed it repeatedly on the blossoms of Oreganum in recent days. I posted photos in last year from similar specimen and the answer was Spallanzina sp. Is it again? Thank you in advance.

~15 mm long. 30 June 2008.

One for Theo I think - unless you can take a specimen we will have to wait until he is back :) He has collected more across the Palaearctic and I haven't seen a lot of species like this - I wish we had the tachinids you have in Hungary! :D

The ocellars are reclinate, so Spallanzania seems to be a perfect suggestion.

Difficult genus.
