Hi, can anyone tell me what family this very small (maybe 2mm) fly belongs to. The picture is poor, far too small model to my system. If You compare it with the tip of 0.15 micro pinn You will get idea. Anyway the wings are nice and maybe rings the bell somewhere :)

Wow, You are so fast :o This is new genus for me and after I checked our list of species I found six Philygria. Unfortunately not interstincta but these six: flavipes, maculipennis, nigricauda, obtecta, posticata and vittipennis. I saw a picture of obtecta and it's not that one. No dots on wings. Maybe one of the five there is left. Or maybe we have a new species :D

Thank You

Since I 'm not familiar with Ephydrid, wait for Tony's advice for the species. ;)

Stephane is correct - Philygria interstincta - P. maculipennis is apparently just a dark form, and is now a synonym.

The Finnish list of Philygria is rather out of date. Mea culpa.
