Looking at V. zonarias in the photo gallery I notice this one I show here has a different appearence. Is this variability within the species? Thanks,

Nope, it's another species!
Volucella elegans female.

I thought that Volucella elegans had black markings on the wings. Is it not so? I will post an example of what I thought was Volucella elegans from the same place.
