Hello Forum,

to my knowledge, this picture shows Liriomyza melampyga. Can this ID be confirmed? If correct, is it a picture that should be given in the Diptera Gallery?

Hagen, NRW, Germany, alder marshland, 175 msm, June 8th 2008,

mine in Impatiens glandulifera

Best regards, Josef

I'd say it probably is - but I'm not sure whether any of the polyphagous species mine Impatiens, and what their mines would look like in this species.
Always best to rear the adults and check genitalia.

correct name this species is Phytoliriomyza melampyga (Loew, 1869), in Europe on Impatientis sp. also minig polyphag species Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau, 1851).
