Hi,

Such a long time I didn't post on diptera.info... (Thanks, my job... :@)

I met this "pretty little" (:|) diptera, on 26th march, having lunch on my leg as I was "photo-hunting" insects in Saint Apollinaire (21), France. Length was something like 3 to 4 mm, not more.

(Sorry, I only have side-views, because I was not suple enough to make top-view photos ! :D ;) )

I think it may be some kind of Simulidae. It was at the edge of some undergrowth. No water nearby, as far as I know.

Is it really some Simulidae, or not ? Who know the name of this inconsiderate guest ?

Next time, I'll show you picts of my leg 2 days later : not so pretty... :| :D ;)

Thanks

Rest assured: it is Simuliidae. I am not familiar enough with the family even to give a genus name, though according to some classifications most of the are Simulium anyway. :)
