Hi,
Yesterday I saw this dark Bombyliid sitting on a house wall in Potsdam. Is it an Anthrax? I expected darker wings in this case but do not find any other fly photos that really match.
Many thanks for help, Sundew

PS. The white spots on the abdomen don't look very natural - can they possibly be caused by a fungus?

The wings look a bit 'milky' which often means it is teneral - not fully dried. The white marks might be related to that.

Today I saw a similar fly in Berlin with the same white marks, and the gallery pics of Anthrax anthrax show them as well, so luckily no disease. I am glad to know another genus of this interesting family!
Thanks, Sundew
