the key lead me there, but i have no experience with Bombilidae yet

There are several species with that hyaline wing colour (did you use the key under
http://home.hccne...ylius.html?), and the decisive characters are difficult to see...
Recently my
Bombylius thread (
http://www.dipter...d_id=13477) was found to show
B. posticus by the Bombyliid expert David Gibbs. My
Bombylius had a different colour of abdomen hairs; however, I do not know how variable hair colour might be within the species. So it's the best to wait for David!

yes Sundew, that's the key i used.
David, isn't
B. minor suposed to get red legs ?
what are the close species you're talking about ? (and criteras to discriminate)
i've got a front side picture ...coud it help ?

correct, with a little more time to study photo i think best guess is
B. trichurus but you need to collect specimens to name these little
Bombylius reliably.
