This one is probably much smaller than
Empis tessellata. More something like
Empis prodromus and its relatives, but I do not have my key here.

Thanks for this fine picture, which shows adequatly the way the proboscis (is it its name?) is boundto the head. Most of the time, we get Empididae with the proboscis pointing downward.
