Hello!
Unfortunately this photo is the "best" among many others depicting a voracious fly probably Empididae having a hapless one which seems to be Stratiomyiid. Dense vegetation and brushland at montane region in Hungary. (9th of May 2008)

Actina chalybea seems for me a good candidate for unlucky prey

I had found Actina chalybea last year in same habitat so it might turn to be true..

I'd say that the
Empis is close to
E. femorata. Don't know which species of the group are present in Hungary.
