I don't know if is better posted in Larvae forum or in Syrphidae forum. Paul,, move it to Syrphidae if you considere it better.
Date: three days ago
Habitat and Locality: Urban garden in Zaragoza city, middle Ebro valley, NE Spain. Mediterranean climate.
Size: Abou 13-15 mm.
Others: Many exemplars in the same square meter. Many species of syrphids observed in my garden: Eristalis, Eristalinus, Xanthogramma, Chrysotoxum, Episyrphus, Eupeodes, Epistrophe, Dasysyrphus, Syritta, Helophilus...
Can be identified, at least to genus level?
Thanks.
Isidro

Hi again!
I am not an expert but I reared the larvae on the attached picture and it turned out to be a E eligans. It is much more flat than your cylindrical larvae. I still think it is a Scaeva on your pictures but I am not sure.
