Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomyiidae -hydrophoria ?

Hi Flyforum,

I am thinking of Anthomyiidae sp., and with this swollen thorax and strong black stripes they look like hydrophoria sp.?

place: Amsterdam forest

I can need some help.. :|

I think it is Hydrophoria lancifer Harris male. Tibiae partly yellowish, abdomen all dark in ground colour, lower calypter projecting beyond upper one.

If legs all black it would be annulata, if legs partly yellow or orange with base of abdomen orange it might be ruralis.. The scutellum is fairly setulose on disk, which is a character of Hydrophoria.

The last photo is what is needed to identify Anthomyiidae!
