Hello Forum,
this midge I saw yesterday (01.05.2008) in Hagen (NRW, D); 175 m above sea level, in the near of an artificial alder marshland, on a painted metalbox.
Does it belong to the Trichoceridae? What else? ID possible?
Best regars, Josef

Josef,
this could be Trichoceridae, but as wing venation is not visible, hard to tell for sure.

I think this is a Limoniid crane fly. Trichocerids tend to have different type of antennae.

And the ocelli are missing, so no
Trichocera.
