Hello!
A "house fly" sized fly from April-23 at a tree trunk at the forest (northwest Germany). I think it's a
Musca female, but which one?

no. M vein bent strongly . It remembers to me a sarco. But it has no red traffic eyes.. it could be a hairy eyed tach. And no strong pulvilli is not usual for sarco. So I would vote for Tachinid.

Hello, Jorge and Stephane!
Thanks for your comments! I also thought, that the bent in the vein was not strong enough for a Tachinid, Calliphorid or Sarcophagid - which led me to
Musca (but not
M. autumnalis). It also did not have the "jizz" of a Tachinid or Sarcophagid (but who am I to say that... ;)).
