Hi,

this weekend I caught a Platycheirus, but I'm not shure which one.
My key said P. maniculatus, but I'm not sure..

I also thought about P. tarsalis (but I think this is incorrect.)

Size: 9mm
Upper side is with 3 pair of bright yellow spots.
(I photographed the under side because of the visibility of the tarses.)

Does anyone know?

Thanks a lot.

Well, not too much to go on, but if the mouth edge is projecting like this and the shape of the tars 1 is as the picture shows, it could very well be Platycheirus manicatus (so not manicULatus)..
It should have 4 pair of large yellow spots on a broad abdomen and furthermore a dull thoracic dorsum!

Hi,

this is a picture of the upper side, maybe it helps.. The abdomen is a bit curled, so it must be a bit broader.

(luckely I collected this one - something I don't do much;))

Yep, it's him allright!
If you collect something you can't identify, I'd be willing to do so if you send me the specimens.
In that case you can send me a privata message for the adress!
Greetings
