Hello forum,
Last summer I saw these fly's (Anthomyiidae ??) and they were milking the louse, just like the ant.
Is that a normal behaviour?
And is it to do whit this photo, too say it are Anthomyiidae ??

Fannia (Fanniidae).
I wonder if this behaviour has ever been described in print? If not, it would certainly be worth publicing. How did the ant react? Hostile or not?

The ant was absolute not hostile to the flies.
Perhaps I can do this summer a better observation of it.

Quite probable, that male and female are of the same species. In this case I'd say Fannia cf. serena - small species with male's wings darkened and female's upper part of parafascialia and ocellar triangle shining. And a very common species.
it would certainly be worth publicing
The site for publishing such a small (fragmental) observations is under constraction -

Joke - this is a different site to Diptera.info. It is still under construction, only a few people have access to submit records at the moment while it is tested. Perhaps easiest if you wait until it is released properly.
