Hi,
Today I saw some small syrphids I am not familiar with. Of this one there is only one photo - sorry! Is it a
Cheilosia? It seems that the abdomen is not fully dark, but the bright spot might be a light reflection as well.
Thanks for any hints, Sundew

ID difficult as the key characters are not visible. But the habitus and certain details look like a Pipiza.

That's a valuable hint to a genus not represented in my photo collection to date.
Many thanks, Dieter, for all your help with my syrphids.

P bimaculata looks like the most likely candidate.

Might be bimaculata - or something else. As far as I know there is still no sound concept how to distinguish the species of the noctiluca complex. Why not name it "Pipiza sp."?
Cheers,
Dieter
