It looks like the celery mining fly, Euleia heraclei L., IMHO. However, it has the scutellum dark brown, which is not common for that species, I'd say. Hopefully, it is not from California... :)

it was taken in the west of the uk.somerset...i shot it 2 days ago i think.

Why sorry? Then it is certainly nothing but Euleia heraclei. In some parts of it distribution range, and especially in the spring, it can be darker than in Mediterranea...

sorry that i posted a fly for id and didnt gi ve u any info on where it was shot..il make sure i give more info nex time.
