Hi,
I am still searching for an
Eristalinus that is no
sepulchralis and hope this time I was lucky. Unfortunately, most pics of the series, taken in a Brandenburgian village on 1 April, were blurred. However, the dull spots on the abdomen are not seen here, and the thorax isn't striped. So what do you say?

You found him! Especially pic 1 shows the shiny abdomen quite well. Eyes meet in the front part narrowly (while broadly separated in male of
sepulchralis), but this doesn't show really well on these pics.

Great - but the species name still remains a mystery... I vote for
E. aeneus then.
