Hello!

Only 7-9 ?C here (northwest Germany) yesterday (now it's -2 ?C) and snowing casually, so the "stiletto bombers" (Bombylius major) utilized every sunbeam for sunbathing - or hung paralysed at twigs... A good occasion to take some photos from the underside. B)

This is a fun pic (although I don't suppose the fly was having fun :p). Your main pic on Insektenfotos is fascinating - I've never seen them do that.

I would like to see the proboscis of Moegistorhynchus longirostris... that's what I call a true proboscis. :D

At first I thought, this fly was dead, probably killed by a fungus (in this case flies often hang around in peculiar positions). But then it moved a leg, and I remembered that I had found Bombylius major at night in the garden "sleeping" while hanging at twigs like this one.
