I don't want to appear greedy (after B. chalybata and B. nigra) - but looking into "Families of flies with three pulvilli", I end up with Beris morrisii rather than B. chalybata again. Where is my mistake? 11. June 2026 in our garden in Rheinbachnear Bonn/Germany, 210m above see level, huge forest nearby. About 6mm. Thank you for your help, Jörg

You won't but you are, greedy Joerg: male Beris morrisii is correct!

Wow, what a good luck. Tthis makes four species of Beris from our garden - B. chalybata, B. morrisii, B. nigra and B. vallata. The latter I only know dead, from a spider's net from last year. (It is B. vallata, or not?). Thank you so very much for your help, Jörg

It is B. vallata - and I think it's a male. |t
