Hi everyone!

Sorry for the bad picture quality... Is this Cheilosia chrysocoma?

Rather small, maybe 10 mm long.

18. May 2026, Germany, Upper Bavaria, northern slope of Mt. Hochfelln, about 1000 m a.s.l., coordinates about 47.77230, 12.55898

Hi,

No, this is not C chrysostoma. Have a look at (maybe) Ch. pictipennis or subpictipennis? Sander Bpt just published his key on European Cheilosia.https://doi.org/1...1/POGV5489

Best,
Jonne

Many thanks Jonne!

So I see there is probably no chance for an exact ID. The key ends for me at katepisternum, which is not visible on my pictures, and a good ventral view seems to be necessary anyway.
