This is my first post, so I hope this is correct. I took this image in the Pine Barrens of NJ. Suburban neighborhood built into mostly pine forest, mixed with grass yards, oak, and an adjoining golf course. I had it suggested on BugGuide that this image might be a species of Volucella, but I also saw images of Copestylum barei that looked similar. I settled for Volucellini tribe as a compromise. Taken on butterfly bush, but I forget the size (of the fly). Sorry, just 1 quick shot months ago (September 2, 2007). I thought that this would be a good place to get opinions.

A Copestylum, no doubt, but the species...

Copestylum barei would be a very good guess.
There are some pictures of the species in Bugguide!
