Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Brachycera sp from Raiatea, French Polynesia

Hello,
This brachycera has been collected in a Malaise trap in a coastal swamp on Raiatea (Society Islands, French Polynesia).
I suspect it to be a Muscidae, but I'm not sure at all.
Does anyone have an idea of the family or even genus please ?

Coenosia No one Coenosia is reported from Society Islands. However, according to my fresh publication the situation changes very fast, see:

I do agree with your recent paper, and not only for Diptera and Odonata. I work on the fauna of tropcial French oversea territories, almost all of them are islands, and except for the endemic species, most of the fauna is introduced, by the Austronesians/Polynesians first (described simultaneously as "canoe bugs" by Wynne (2014) and by myself in my paper about Formicidae of French Polynesia), then the Europeans.
What addtional pictures would help you confirm the genus ?
Or are you interested by some specimens ?

Dear Thibault, your specimen is in rather bad condition, only for legs are present, correct? I think that the best solution is to make COI sequence.

I have six males from the same trap, 4 of them are in good condition, I dissected a male in poor condition to do not damage a good one.

Is on t3 submedian av and ad setae almost on the same level, close one to another?
