Have a nice Day. One Question please. I found a dead Pollenia species. Can you identify them in more detail or can you not identify Pollenia species from the photo? I would be very grateful for an answer.
Finding data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, garden, December 01th, 2025, size 10mm
Kind regards Karl

Hallo Karl, in general,
Pollenia cannot be identified from pictures ("examination of a specimen under a microscope is necessary for correct identification", Olga Sivell (2021): Blowflies).
Sometimes it is possible though, but then several characteristics must be clearly visible.
This one is a female with a pale basicosta and strongly dusted abdomen like the very common
P. rudis.

Hello Eric thank you for the Answer of female Pollenia sp., and thanks for the information that you can't definitely determine Pollenia species from the photo. So I no longer need to ask about safe Polenia sp. -species.
Kind regards Karl.
