I have a singel female specimen of this species that was swept down by a lake. Main vegetation close to water is ling (mainly Calluna vulgaris). Could be swept above dead bird or faeces of sheep or geese.
Could this be C. notabilis?
Collected 15. august 2025
Faroe Islands
Thanks

Species of Crumomyia recorded from the Faroe Islands:
C. nigra
C. nitida

C. notabilis is most likely a wrong guess.
Now I am quite sure it is a Borborillus. Could it be B. vitripennis or maybe B. sordidus?
Not very visible on photo but the knees are yellow/light brown. Front knees most pale. Coxa of front legs paler than femur.
Specimen viewed in ethanol.
Can it at least be confirmed to be a Borborillus?
Thanks
