Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Acroceridae - Ogcodes (varius ?) - north-western France (ind2 : male ?)

Hi,
Second specimen (first : https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=115704). Same place, in a wet moorland.
Quite different (more yellow on abdomen and legs).

Is it ok for the species ang the sexe ?
If this is varius, any idea of its repartition ?

Yes. All yellow specimens are males, all dark are females. The females have been described as reginae Trojan, but to me it is just the female of varius. This is supported by their occurrence in the field (see "the book"). I am aware that Christian Kehlmaier disagrees, maybe for good reasons ....
