Hi all!

Is this a Brachypalpus? And if yes, which one? And if not, what is it?

Size roughly guessed 15 mm

Found 14.5.2025 in Germany, Upper Bavaria, Maria Eck near Siegsdorf on a pile of firewood at southern forest edge, about 840 m a.s.l., coordinates 47.79147,12.60887

Yes, B. laphriformis, male. B. valgus has a knob on the hind tibia, so it is not that one.

Hi Karsten!
Many thanks for this, and also for confirming the Parasyrphus in the other post.
