Dear Fly-forum,

I took these pictures today in my glasshouse.
The fly is approx. 5 mm long and blows a bubble.
Is Asilidae correct and can it be further identified?
Thank you for your help,
Niek

No, this is not Asilidae but Sphaeroceridae.

Dear Jan-Willem,

Thank you for your quick reply.
Would it be OK if I record it as Lotiphila atra cf. or as Lotiphila sp.?
Please advise, thank you.
Best regards,
Niek

Hi Niek,

Just have a little patience for now. For me it was just a guess, but there might be someone on the forum who actually knows something about Sphaeroceridae. So give it a little time.

I'd say Copromyza, if not, then possibly Crumomyia.
