Hello,
In the south of France on September 12, 2024.
She was laying eggs in the ground.
Length of the body: 12 mm visible to which it is necessary to add a little of the end of the abdomen sunk in the ground.

Hello Liliane, it's one of the Therevidae, could be
Thereva unica (bipunctata).

This is a new family for me.
I read in this document https://home.hccnet.nl/mp.van.veen/therevidae/therevidae.html#Thereva%20unica that it could be Thereva unica (ex bipunctata) or T. oculata. The size I measured would better match the second and I'll look if there are any illustrations available.
Do you know this species?

T. oculata and I've never seen a photo of it.

I've only found one illustration of T. oculata and it doesn't look like it. I agree with you that T. unica is the most likely.
