Hello,
today I photographed a pair of Conpos in my garden. What species is it, perhaps Conops ceriaeformis? Germany, Saarland, Bexbach, Garden, Absolute Altitude 250 m, 12.07.2024
Greetings, Volker

I think it is Leopoldius coronatus. Would you agree with me?

EDIT:
Hello Volker, I think it's
Abrachyglossum capitatum and I can exclude
Leopoldius and the
Conops as far as I know the species.
- Arista on top of the 3rd antennal segment
- I think the spikes on the arista are visible.

Hello Eric,
thanks for your determination and your effort. I have read the text of βDe Bree (2012) - Abrachyglossum capitatum, een nieuwe blaaskopvlieg voor nederland
Nederlandse Faunistische Mededelingen 38 - 2012β and I think you are right. I have never heard or read anything about this species before, and it is new to me. You can also see the spike in the first picture. It is very difficult to distinguish between the different species of Conopidae.
Greetings, Volker
