Hello,
I photographed this fly on the seashore in Balaclava, Mauritius, on April 21st 2024. I think it is a Chloropidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos?
Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Chloropidae, Chloropinae: Merochlorops Howlett in Maxwell-Lefroy, 1909 (junior synonym: Formosina Becker, 1911) with 26 valid species occurs mainly in the Oriental and Australasian Region, two spp. also in the Afrotropic and two in the Palaearctic Region. An overview with all literature is available in https://sdei.senckenberg.de/tschirnhaus-chloropidae/index.php [feed in Merochlorops in the field Genus]. Some species are harmful to cardamom plantations (Zingiberaceae) in the Himalayan countries. M. lucens (de Meijere, 1908) is known from Mauritius, RĂ©union, Rodrigues and Seychelles Islands.
