Hi,

a few days ago, I took a few pictures of a tiny, orange and black fly with patterned wings. My best guess would be a Opomyzidae and Geomyza sp. might be a good match. Is it possible to identify the fly from the pictures?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), leaf, 24.05.2024, app. 4 mm

Greetings, Uli

Either a female of G. nartshukae or G. tripunctata. You need to study sternite 8 to make sure.

Hi Jan Willem!

Thank you for the ID, that is more than I have hoped for. Unfortunately, these are the only pictures I have, so it will be left undecided.

Greetings, Uli

Hi again!

Actually, the fly was crawling over the edge if the leaf and I found one usable (i.e. in focus) picture, that shows at least a part of the underside, but I am not really sure if it shows the 8. Sternite. Is it helpful?
